Over time, the cut trunk will sprout new shoots just below the cut. If necessary, treat the cut with some wound paste to prevent infections and drying out. Prevent diseases by placing the plant in a bright spot and watering it very sparingly.

Yucca Cuttings

Taking a Yucca cutting is surprisingly easy. You can use either the side shoots or the cut-off top of the trunk. If you want to take a cutting from a side shoot (a “pup”), cut it off as close to the trunk as possible. Let the cutting dry for a few days first so the cut can heal. Then place the cutting in a pot with a mixture of potting soil and sand, or directly in water. As soon as roots appear, the plant can be transplanted into regular soil. Always ensure there are drainage holes in the bottom and a layer of drainage pellets so excess water can drain away easily.
