'Trachelospermum Star of Venice' is also called star jasmine because of its white, star-shaped flowers. It is a Mediterranean evergreen climber and hardy to -10°C. Its abundant flowering period runs from early June to late August, during which time the flowers emit a wonderfully sweet fragrance. The climber has oval, dark green leaves and needs support from a trellis or fence to grow well. The newly emerging branches of this star jasmine curl beautifully upwards along a wire mesh or fence. The best location is sunny to partially shaded and sheltered from the wind. Star jasmine can be planted in the ground in normal, nutrient-rich soil. It also thrives in a large pot on the patio or balcony.
